Beautiful, but watch out! A review of Le Parc Suite Hotel
Beautiful, classy lobby, but this is a hotel in need of full renovation. They have a complimentary business room with free high-speed internet, printing and a fax. The roof pool and tennis court are gorgeous and the housekeeping staff were sweet and helpful. The location is very Hollywood and very cool. The lobby is exquisite and upscale and one would expect the same of the rooms. But, double check what you are told by the staff. My family stayed at the Le Parc on a booking from Hotels at the great rate of $120.00 per night for two nights. Perhaps that super low rate accounts for what happened. I was informed at the hotel that they had no non-smoking rooms with two twins, which I desired for my nine and ten year olds, and a sofa sleeper for my wife and I. However, I was immediately informed by another staff person that one was available. Upon entering the room we were given, we were impressed with the initial appearance, but horrified by the smell. This room was large and well decorated, but it was a smoking room. My kids loved the big long room and my wife and I just smiled and kept our mouths shut to them, but I went and asked for another non-smoking room with three beds and I was told that there were none and that the smell was from a guest who just "requested an ashtray". My wife and I had just come from another leg of our vacation where we had to argue about the misrepresentation of a hotel room, so we were in no mind to go through another argument. We kept the room and found a bathroom with sagging floors and mildew in the showers, wallpaper coming off the walls everywhere, furniture that was dirty, and the pull out sofa sleeper was so lumpy and unsleepable I thought I was at a No Tell Motel. Cigarette burns were on the counters in the kitchen and the bathroom and when I asked for a glass plate to place in the microwave, the plate delivered didn't fit the oven. Our view was of trees above and garbage and storage below, not that bad, just not that great. Upon departure I told the Desk man that the room was a Smoking room and he just smiled and said, "Yeah; it was". I felt like we were the only ones not in on the joke. We were then told that next time we should ask for a room on the newly renovated 3rd floor. Finally, before I filed this review, I asked the Le Parc for their side of the story and got no response back after a week. I wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll be recommending it to my art business travelling friends.
