Be Aware of the Hyatt A review of Hyatt Regency Long Beach

I was elated to get such a great deal at this "four-star" hotel, only to be disappointed at the two-star treatment. When first pulling in, we were cut off by a speeding valet in a Mercedes only to have him double park and block off the entire driveway and stall us and the ten cars behind for about 10 minutes and it got worse from there. The front desk was understaffed (more waiting), waiters were rude, when I asked where I could get a drink at 11:50 I was told "see that phone over there, dial room service". Our room reeked very strongly of latex paint and there were hairs all over the bathroom (imagine the type) due to the poor cleaning. I had expected way more from such a highly rated name but being this is such a populate area for tourists I was disappointed at the level of services this hotel provided. I would recommend staying at one of the newer, FRIENDLIER places with softer mattresses where the rooms don't smell like the paint section of the Home Depot!! The area around this hotel is being improved all the time and this is no way to stay in the forefront of the tourist industry.
