Bar Harbor's Hidden Treasure! A review of Bar Harbor Manor
On our second trip to Acadia, we decided to select an inn rather than a chain hotel. We absolutely chose the right place! First of all, Bar Harbor Manor was LESS expensive than several chain hotels located in the area. In addition, its proximity to the downtown area was fantastic. The hotel is located on a very quiet residential street. However, we could easily walk to the shops, restaurants and docks; this made our stay much more enjoyable because parking is notoriously difficult in Bar Harbor! There is an also entrance to Acadia within minutes of the hotel. We drove, but it would be possible to walk into the park.
The condition of the grounds and the room cannot be described as anything less than EXQUISITE. We have never stayed in a cleaner hotel room--the sheets were perfect, the bathroom was spotless and the carpet was free of stains. The room decor was "vintage" or "Victorian" with contrasting florals and cherry furniture. It was tastefully done and did not overpower us at all. Outside, many flowers were blooming, including fragrant lilies. When we stopped back at the room one afternoon, two friendly workers were sweeping the parking lot! In the lobby, the proprietors provided two binders full of the menus for local restaurants. We will definitely stay at Bar Harbor Manor again and strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone. You will not be disappointed!
