Away from the city centre but not bad A review of Hilton Garden Inn Charlottesville
My wife and I had decided togo away for the weekend and noticed this new Garden Inn had opened so decided to try it. Located just one minute off I-64 so ideal for those looking for a stop over from a long highway drive and it is situated in a new development overlooking a lake out the back. Overall rather pleasant.
As a Hilton HHonors Gold member I enquired about a room upgrade but was told the hotel was rather full and given two breakfast vouchers instead. Apparently there are only a handful of suites at this property so worth bearing in mind if you are Hilton Diamond/Gold and hoping for that larger rooms.
The room itself was pleasant, not huge, not pokey and we had the nice lake view over the back. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well.
We had the breakfast the following morning and the staff were great, frequent OJ and coffee/tea top ups and smiles all round. The food itself wasn't bad, a good selection of hot and cold options with chefs on hand to cook omelettes as desired.
Would I stay here again? Well the hotel is fine but we paid almost $160/night for a weekend which seemed a bit high. Then again hotels in Charlottesville are often in high demand with UVA games so maybe it wasn't all bad.
