Avoid the Grand A review of Harrah's Tunica - Veranda and Terrace Hotels
I was very glad when I read the other negative reviews here as it has just cemented my opinion that the Grand would have to be one of the worst hotels in Tunica. I recently went there for my husband's 30th birthday for the weekend (I didn't want to stay there but cause it was Elvis week it was all that was available). I won't tell you all the instances where the staff were rude cause I would be typing all day but every staff member I encountered was rude and had a no care attitude. I booked their 'romance package' which was $157 for a room, $40 in food vouchers and a bottle of champage and a cheese tray to be delivered to the room. When I checked in I was told to ring room service and the champagne and cheese tray would be brought to my room. When I inquired why I had to make the phone call and not the front desk I was told 'cause we don't do that'. I called the ext for room service and was told to leave a message which I did asking them to bring up the champagne etc. That was at 5pm. At 10pm I returned to my room and surprise, surprise no champagne or cheese tray. When I called room service to inquire why I was told that 'I was calling the wrong place, they couldn't help me and they didn't know anything it' I hung up in digust and went down to the front desk to try and get the issue resolved. To cut a very long story short it took my husband and I an hour and half to get the champagne and cheese plate delivered to our room after going through 3 managers and then when it did turn up it turned up it in a cardboard box! At that stage I didn't care about the champagne or cheese it was the principal of the matter. I was very embrassed about the situation cause it was meant to be a nice weekend for my husband and was just a stress all around. I will write to the Grand to voice my digust and disapointment at the situation but doubt I will receive a response cause I am sure they do not care as they don't about anything else that goes on there! With the choice of hotels/casinos available at Tunica you be much better off going to one of the others. They may not be as large as the Grand but I would rather have a polite staff member over an extra 200 poker machines any day!!
