Average A review of DoubleTree by Hilton Nashville-Downtown
I was not impressed by this hotel and would probably try another one if I was wanting to stay downtown. My check-in experience was fine and the people I talked to were all very nice. Our room was actually pretty big (another review said the room was small) but I agree the toilet/shower room was small but didn't really cause any problems for us. My main complaint was just the fact that this hotel was quite dirty. The bathroom was dirty with hair on the floor behind the door and in the bathtub. Walking down the halls, we noticed the doors and walls just needed a good scrubbing. Our room was the same way -- just use a little cleaner and wipe the dirt off the doors and walls and it would look so much nicer! One of the 2 double beds had a twin size blanket on it that didn't overlap the sides at all - just fit on top. Also, the mattress liner (which just lays on top of the bed -- I HATE that kind!) wasn't placed in the right place on the bed. I had to take the fitted sheet off and move the mattress pad up to the right place. And the pillows were sideways in the pillow cases so, again, I had to take them out and put them in straight. I know this all sounds trivial but it just goes along with the rest of the room -- the cleaning staff just didn't care about doing a good job. We had our room "cleaned" one day and it was really a joke. We were out of kleenex and it wasn't replaced. Since our coffee maker had overflowed in the morning when we used it (it was broken), we had to use a couple of towels to clean it up and they left these obviously dirty towels on the floor in the bathroom. Really all that was done were the beds made up. We had left a candy wrapper on the bed and when they made it up, they very neatly replaced the candy wrapper on top of the bedspread. We got a kick out of that! Even with the problems, I wouldn't say it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we enjoyed the location.
The valet parking was a good price and was convenient but I don't know why valet was $12 and self-parking was $18 in the same garage. I'm sure there's a reason but I couldn't figure it out. Next time I'll try another property and who knows -- maybe I'll think this wasn't so bad after all!
