Average overall A review of Outrigger Fairway Villas

Don't expect a full service facility. These are condos run by a management company. If you encounter service issues they do the minimal amount, if at all, to assist you. Cleaning service is minimal, and in fact they don't vacuum the rooms daily and if someone parks in your designated spot, management will not do anything about it. Oh and late check out is 1pm. Anything beyond that is an extra day charge (we had to pay approx $165), so think about that when booking your return flights - those later evening departures can be a little tricky. Views of the golf course are nice, and if you have a balcony facing the South, the view of Mauna Kea at Sunrise is nice. The area can be very windy, but just down the road 2 miles or so towards Kona there is a State Beach park, Kehaka Kai, or next to the Four Seasons, that has great weather. Don't expect to use the neighboring Marriott or Hyatt for free because the pool at the Villas is small (and not heated) (neighboring hotels charge approx $75-80) for day use. Grounds are nicely kept and there's a BBQ area near the pool that we observed was used by other guests quite frequently. They don't stock the kitchen at all, except for glasses, dishes, a few utinsils and a pot, a pan, and one dishtowel, so plan a run to Costco, WalMart, or Safeway in Kona for supplies (including salt and pepper) if you plan to use the kitchen. For the price I'd say it was ok, but wouldn't go back.
