Average Hotel with a Very Nice Pool A review of Doubletree by Hilton Charlottesville
We stayed at the Doubletree in July 2004. While our experience was not as bad as some reviewers, we did have to change rooms after we arrived because the first one we were given smelled like sour milk or vomit (not sure which). The staff responded quickly and helped move our stuff to another room - they even agreed that the room smelled awful. The location of this hotel was fine for us - Charlottesville is easy to get around. We had no problems getting to Monticello and the University. Because it is on the north side of Charlottesville it is actually the closest hotel to James Madison's Montpelier. I made the comment about the pool on the subject line because you walk by it on the way to the elevator to your room - it is a very nice indoor/outdoor pool. Incidently, it seems like most hotel elevators are agonizingly slow but the 2 elevators at the Doubletree got us to our floor as quick as any I've seen. There is a decent Latin restaurant diagonally across the highway from the hotel entry road call Pupusa Crazy.
