August 2003 A review of Coral Beach Hotel and Condos
I just returned from a week at Coral Beach with my family. Our condos (we rented two for a large group) were fine. They are fairly dated (love those green kitchen appliances) but they were okay. One unit had a phone and cable, but neither worked in the other unit. The overall property just needs updating in a significant way. The elevators are in terrible shape, and they smelled very bad. The pool and beach were nice, and the lady at the pool bar was great. The beach on either side of the resort is very pretty and there was hardly anyone on the beach.
While you can walk to Port Lucaya, it isn't something you want to do twice a day. After a couple of days of taxi fares I rented a car. That leads to the parking issue. There aren't enough spaces there, so even if you rent a car you may have a problem finding a place to park it.
Two nights I had no choice but to park in a reserved space and move the car the next morning when some of the visitor spaces opened up. Port Lucaya was nice, and I highly recommend "Shenanigans" and the restaurant that was formerly "Pussers". Both were great. Groceries are very expensive on the island (about twice what they are in the US).
