Astrid a DUMP A review of Radisson Blu Astrid Hotel, Antwerp
My partner and I booked a saturday night on the web at this Hotel. While the Hotel might face the train station other than the actual building the cement surrounds and rubbish made for an ugly view from the Hotel. We booked a 150 euro royal brunch package - promise of a large and luxurious room and a late extensive breakfast. The room was small and pokey with a very ugly view over an internal cement type courtyard - no light, no sun, no nothing. The bathroom need a refit and little was supplied - ie no face washers and towels for midgets. The tea and coffee making facilities did not work - the kettle was broken - a call to room service received no reply. On booking in we were told that breakfast was from 8-10.30 - hardly a luxurious sleep in. The breakfast room reminded us of being in a youth hostel - no class, no nothing. The breakfast was hardly inspiring - the toaster was hopeless - grill which cooked one side at a time and was incredibly slow. On booking out - very early- we just wanted to be out and get a decent coffee - the breakfast coffee was vile...we asked about the Royal Brunch and were told that as we had had breakfast that was the end of the Brunch - the Brunch started at 11.30 - would have been nice to have been given an explanation on booking in. All in all it was an ugly experience - at the most the hotel should be rated three stars - the building is ugly, ugly, ugly and the whole place lacks any sense of style. It's a waste of money - find someone else. It is a dive.
