Astoria Hotel. Not in the quiet area they stated!! A review of Astoria Hotel
We have just returned from 7 nights at the Astoria,The hotel itself was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in,and there were still ladies cleaning the main area at 11pm.
For the first 3 days the hotel was quite quiet but by Wednesday 2 groups of Italians arrived and boy did you know it! The hotel did not seem to be able to cope with the vast amount that turned up for breakfast even though it was only 8-15 am When we arrived in the dining room there was nowhwere for us to sit after about 10 minuits we were asksed to share a table with some of the other guests no problem there except they had run out of crockery and we had to wait while the waitress went and washed some!!
In the brochure they state the hotel is in a quiet side street Dont you beleive it it has to be one of the busiest short cuts in Prague! Then there were the refuse collections every morning at 4 am followed at 4-45am by the bottle van collecting all the empty bottles from the bars and hotels on the street, the next disturbance was about 5-30am deliveries began to arrive at the Kotva department store which is sittuated directly behind the hotel but the vans parked right outside the hotel .
I know all of this is out of the hotels hands but I dont think they should state that it is in a quiet area.
If it wasnt for the early morning wake ups I would deffinately stay here again the cleanliness and the location of the hotel were excellent.
