April 2004 at the Memling A review of Hans Memling Hotel
We stayed at Hans Memling for a few days while in Brugge. The desk was very helpful regarding anything that we needed. They had lost our reservation and were over-booked, but made space all the same for us. We paid 89 Euro a night which included breakfast (eggs, bacon, breads, coffee, etc.) We were on the 1st floor - kind of noisy when those above arrived home for the evening. The bathroom was adequate with a full sized tub and shower handle, but had no slip-fall protection. You can take any bus from the train station to the 'market square' to get nearby the hotel which sits on a quiet side street. (There is a kids night club across the way which we did hear one evening late into the night.) To go back to the train, there is a bus stop 100 yards away and any bus that stops there goes back to the train station. Given that Brugge is all cobblestone streets, we recommend taking the bus if you have luggage with you. There is an automated internet cafe in Brugge called The Happy Room. Its open 24 hrs. and operates via a central kiosk that takes Euro coins. This is very close to the hotel as well.
