An unfriendly construction site A review of Esturion Hotel & Lodge

We have been booked in this hotel by our BA tour operator. When we arrived at the hotel at lunch time, we did not note the (much needed by the way) construction going on, as everybody was having lunch. We had to climb over open pavements and boards and down a dirty staircase, carring our luggage, to find a room in a somewhat desolate condition, out of time and not cleaned. They let us change room to another, bigger room, but not clean as well. The door to the toilet could not been opened, as the toilet was half in the room. We however had a nice balcony going to the river and thus decided to stay all the same, as we had booked for only two nights. Then construction works started again and the whole building was trembling from the hammering. We longed for the swimming pool after time in the cool Andes parts of Argentina, so we thought lets go to the pool, have lunch and relax. But then, we found the pool empty, under construction as well. We complained with the reception but they got angry at us and ignored us. We asked to speak to the manager and explained to him. We told him, that where we come from, guests are informed about such major constructions going on. He just told us to call our tour operator, not very helpful either. Fortunately our tour operator (Ripio Turismo) within 20 minutes changed us to the beautiful Cataratas Hotel without charging us for the upgrade. He had not been informed by the hotel when he made the reservation for us.
