An oasis in Prague A review of Hotel Casa Marcello
Stayed here for 3 nights, 27 Feb 2005. As other reviewers have commented, it is hard to find but that is part of the beauty of this hotel because when you turn that corner, exhausted after a busy day shopping, sightseeing, drinking and eating, the hotel is like an oasis.
Tucked quietly away down a side street, near to St Agnes Convent, it has that old fashioned quality. We stayed during a very cold period with temperatures outside as low as -20 C, but inside the hotel it was warm and very comfortable. We stayed in a suite on the top floor - no lift for those with mobility problems, so be careful. Free afternoon coffee and cake for guests which was very welcome after a day traipsing around this busy city.
As for eating, the breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice and variety. Local restaurants were very good value although it was clearly their quiet season as we were often the last ones in the restaurant at about 9:30. We were ripped of the first night we were there in a restaurant near the main square, but everywhere else we had tremendous value for money.
All in all, a great hotel and highly recommended.
