An average place to stay. A review of Anchorage Inns & Suites
Recently stayed one night at the Anchorage Inn & Suites.
It was a very last minute decision to stay in Portsmouth so we called the hotel directly to check availability and pricing. We were quoted a rate of $135 per night which was more than we wanted to spend. I quickly checked some internet sites and was able to find a rate of $75 per night for the same type of room!
The room itself was a little on the small side - but it was clean and comfortable. The air conditioner was noisy - but it helped block out the road noise from the major highway right next to the hotel. A plus was the refrigerator and microwave located in the room - which would be great for families traveling with children.
A continental breakfast was included with our room rate. They had a nice area to eat but there was a limited selection of things to pick from. Some small muffins, bagels and cereal in addition to coffee and juice.
The hotel had a very nice indoor pool and whirlpool.
I give the hotel a very low score for customer service. The check in process was slow - there was one person at the desk who was continuously interupted by a ringing telephone. As we tried to check out, the same thing happened - only this time there was a line of customers trying to check out. We waited as long as we could and then had to leave before we could complete the check out process. The other staff members we had contact with were in the breakfast area and housekeeping. They were there to do a specific job - and being nice to customers was not part of their job description.
In summary, I thought the Anchorage Inn was an average place to stay. It was worth the $75 we paid - but I wouldn't pay more than that.
