An absolute gem! A review of Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Los Angeles
this is a darling hotel! We chose it as an alternative to staying at an airport hotel after a late arrival to LAX. After traveling all day, it was a delight to arrive at the Hawthorn Suites! It's exterior is a warm yellow stucco, with a courtyard that the rooms look out on, filled with ferns and other potted plants. There are cafe-style tables in the courtyard that are great for breakfast and the paper, or an evening drink. A generous breakfast buffet is included in the rate, and included waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, coffee, juices, and fruite. The hotel was very quiet during my stays (two consecutive mondays that I flew into and out of LAX), and the staff were friendly and helpful. The first night I stayed in the one bedroom suite. It had very comfortable, attractive furniture, a small but complete kitchen (full sized fridge), roomy bathroom, and a separate, generous bedroom with a wonderful pillowtop mattress and a second television. I had my toddler son with me, and he had plenty of room to explore and play (I've found suites are great when you have small children who need room to explore). The second night I stayed, I had the studio type suite, which was all one room, but still containing a small kitchen and sitting area. Also very comfortable (this room actually had a very generous tub in it's bathroom). My only criticism was that the hotel did not have a crib available, however, my reservation that night was very short notice. I will definitely plan on staying here again if my travels take me to the LA area.
