Ametyst fails to deliver A review of Ametyst Hotel Prague
Stayed there for 3 nights in august. Bills itself as a 4-star hotel. In reality it falls short. Location is in New Town, close to K5 Relax if you're in prague just for some fun, but everything else you want to see is in Old Town, a 10 minute walk and a 5 minute metro ride away. Arrived at airport and got the guy at the info booth to arrange a "cab" ride for 450 crowns, which is not bad (never use official prague cabbies...they're commie thieves). Hotel is about 15 minuts from the airport. Staff was ok but didn't smile, which is not suprising since Czechs aren't known for being shiney happy people. Internet access was one free public PC but it was fast so i give it thubs-up. Room itself wasnt big but not small either. BED WAS TERRIBLE!! Hard as a rock. Couldnt sleep sometimes. The hotel also says "Air Conditioned (Partial)", which i think means open the window and let the cool air and sounds of Prague in, because there was no air vent in the room. Room door did not lock without tugging on it. Oh, the room did have a safe but it opened with your digital room key, not with a combination. Now how safe is room safe when the staff can just cut a copy of the room key?
Overall, decent, but not the greatest hotel. Definately not 4-stars. They've got to get real mattresses.
