Always great A review of Harveys Lake Tahoe

Just returned from a great and inexpensive 2 night stay (59.00 premium room). We have stayed at Harveys several times and have never been disapointed. The rooms are large and comfortable, ours was on the 11th floor with a view of the lake. There is some construction in the lobby this time, so it was a little more difficult to get around, since the construction included a set of escalators being out of service. Restaurant choices are good too, and be even more varied with Cabo Wabo opening up soon. One restaurant note we encountered on our last visit, the Sage Room (even though higher prices than the 19th floor Lewellen's) is not a "dressy" restaurant. We were dressed appropriately, only to be disapointed that people coming in were wearing shorts, tee shirts and such. I guess being right on the casino floor, you basically get people "tripping in" to the restaurant. Harvey's web-site now does state that this is a casual restaurant. One reviewer noted the charge for the gym. I personally do not have problem with it, and it also states on the web-site that there is a fee. The swimming pool is also being remodled, so if you are planning on going very soon and this is important, ask. Harveys is connected to Harrah's via an underground tunnel, and being that Harrah's owes Harveys, you can charge to your room any Harrah's restaurant charges. You can also use your Total Rewards card at either casino. Now for the casinos; both are smoky, I've never seen people light one after the other like they do in casinos! There are plenty of different games, and even a quarter poker bar. We did sign up for a Total Rewards card when we arrived, and found after alot of gambling, there was "no reward", $6.00 credit toward the coffee shop. Maybe I just do not undertsand how they work. Our friends just returned from the MGM in Las Vegas, and had one night, and one dinner comped. Oh well..we still came home with winnings that totally paid for our trip. Over the years we have stayed in Lake Tahoe, Harvey's has never disapointed us, we plan on continuing to stay.
