Almost Perfect for the Off Season Price A review of Snake River Lodge and Spa
Just returned from a pre-Thanksgiving off-season last minute visit to Jackson Hole and I was nervous to book the Lodge (given the reviews on Trip Advisor). The King room was spacious, superior appointments, excellent amenities and housekeeping (with the exception of a few frayed washcloths one day). I did move to a lighter room, the first was a bit dark and faced a building (but if I squatted I could still see the mountain--hence the Mountain View description). Actually, the valley views are prettier than the mountain views. The highlight was the Gamefish restaurant--superb food and service--competitively priced.
The spa is gorgeous, although on 2 occasions there was no spa attendant (no slippers, towels and cups strewn all over--ice water no longer iced nor refilled)--and the spa prices were definitely NOT off season. Very courteous massuese/estiticians. Overall, very enjoyable for the off season price--very pleasant front desk staff. Only real negative was the newer concierge--a bit of an attitude (she suggested I call a taxi myself--handed me the phone number when the lobby was empty). The new Four Seasons is almost done, but there are still a few workers milling about in the back of the hotel--my room was at the front.
