Affordable Paradise in Maui! A review of Maui Guest House

The Maui Guest House was quite a find! I'm extremely skeptical when it comes to B&B's found on the internet, but the Guest House definitely exceeded our expectations. My family just returned from a four night stay in Maui two days ago, and I miss it soo much!

The Guest House provides all of the amenities listed in the brochure...(snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, hot tubs, etc) We had stayed in an expensive resort in Waikiki, where snorkeling gear was $10/hr, so this was a relief. All of the equipment was in great shape, too. The rooms are extremely clean with individual AC units and paddle fans. There are washers and dryers to do your laundry and a selection of 500+ videos to watch either on the state-of-the-art, surround sound living room tv or on the dvd/vhs player in your room. The actual house is beautifully decorated with stain glass and mosaic tile work through out.

I can't say enough about the staff. They were so friendly, fun, helpful and trustworthy. Every morning they provided an extensive selection of fresh fruits, muffins, cereals, coffee/teas, and juices.

The town of Lahaina is a great location. The central part of town is about a 3 minute drive from the Guest House. There are tons of restaurants and shops there, including Hard Rock, Kobe Japanese Steak house, etc. We used the beaches in kanaapali(?), which were maybe a mile north of the Guest House. All beaches in maui are public, so all of the big resorts there provide public parking and beach access. We also traveled south to Marena and Wailea, where the beaches were better and less crowded. That was probably a half hour drive. The last day we did the "road to Hana." This is an all-day event. The Guest House provides tapes and cd guided tours that you can play in your car to help navigate to all of the sites along the way to Hana. I definitely recommend renting a car ahead of time and traveling during non rush hour times, as there is one primary road going around the island.

The Guest House is in a residential neighborhood. It is very quiet, and I was a little scared when we first pulled into the neighborhood, but don't let that full you. Once we pulled into the Guest House, it was paradise! The neighborhood was friendly and safe and great location. Good luck!
