Affordable Classy Hotel A review of Sofitel Brussels Le Louise
I have actually stayed in this hotel on two occasions- firstly in November 2003 and then last year in July. On both occasions I felt like I should be in that hotel, it's very classy and you are well looked after by the staff.
The rooms are well furnised, modern, yet with a classical feel. The bed is one of the biggest beds I have ever seen in my life! The room has all the usual facilities, mini bar, cupboard space, a very large wardrobe and safe.
If you have any problems with the safe, the staff are very willing to help y ou out! The bathroom is large, with bath and shower - and very clean, with lovely warm, fluffy towels!
The hotel's bar has a lovely atmosphere and setting, and the bay windows are a fantastic place to watch the world go by on Avenue Louise. Drinks may be pricey- but it's well worth trying the Bellevue Kriek - Cherry Beer!!
The dining room for breakfast is a lovely, large airy room with plenty to choose from. Cold meats and cheese, a selection of pasteries and fruit. Staff will ask if you would like a warm breakfast and tea and coffee.
On my first visit the hotel arranged an organised trip to Brugges for myself and my partner, getting picked up from the door!
Avenue Louise is out of this world, most of the shops I could see from my hotel room I could not even begin to afford to even window shop in! However Avenue Louise is ideally located for a visitor, the metro is a few hundred meters down from the hotel, and it's a short walk down to attractions like Grand Place, Mannekin Pis and the Chocolate Museuem.
On the second first I was in Brussels for the start of the Tour de France and staff were very helpful in advising me of the best routes and how to get to the locations I was planning on visiting.
The metro is efficient and easy to use, and their are plenty of tourist buses which can be taken from around the train stations.
However if shopping is your thing, their are plenty of shops around Avenue Louise and their are plenty of shopping malls.
