Absolutely Perfect A review of Anchorage Grand Hotel
Stop looking at different hotels in Anchorage and just book this one. It is the perfect combination of small boutique hotel with the better amenities of a chain. With only 31 rooms, the staff is always attentive, pleasant and helpful. Rooms are spacious and more like a 1-bedroom apartment and spotless. Kitchen is great for storing and preparing food if you wish to do so. Daily local newspaper delivered to your door each morning along with a "bag" breakfast. It's simple (bagel, muffin, juice and a fruit cocktail cup) but just fine to get the day started. Ample closets, mirrors and lighting. It truly is a home away from home. Location is great too -- can walk to anywhere in downtown within 10 minutes. Train station is literally across the street so light sleepers may be bothered by a few early morning horns but it's not constant and wasn't a problem at all. Free parking just down the block and free passes to a local health club that's just two blocks away. Excellent value for your money. If you're looking for fancy, schmancy with bell service and on-site restaurants and mints on the pillow, go elsewhere. But if you just want a very nice, clean, inexpensive homey place to stay, this is it.
