Absolutely Amazing Avenue Inn B&B A review of Avenue Inn Bed And Breakfast
My wife and I, and the wife of our very dear friend recently conspired to surprise him on his birthday. After some deliberation we decided to go to New Orleans, as none of us had ever been there before. It took several weeks of looking, but we finally decided on a B&B as opposed to a hotel. We finally settled on the Avenue Inn B&B owned by Joe and Bebe Rabhan. My wife and I arrived the day before our friends, and were immediately and pleasantly surprised. The Avenue Inn, built in 1891, is a wonderful example of the architecture of the time. It is being painstakingly restored by the Rabhans with great attention to the slightest detail. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Joe & Bebe and given a complete history and tour of the home, and made to feel as if, for the next several days, this would be our home as well.Several months prior to our arrival, we booked our reservations with Joe, and explained that this was a surprise birthday for our friend. Joe suggested ways in which we could celebrate our friend's birthday, New Orleans' style. He then went out of his way to take care of these arraignments personally. Joe ordered and picked up a New Orleans' style cake, which he had waiting in our friend's room, along with Marti Gras style beads and birthday balloons. Joe also suggested that if we wanted any celebratory 'spirits' that we call and order those 'spirits' and he would personally pick them up from the store and have them in the room when our friends arrived. When our friends did arrive, Joe gave them the same history and tour of his home that he gave us. When he showed them to their room, all of the birthday surprises that he promised were in the room exactly as he said they would be. Even my friend's wife who was in on the plans from the beginning was amazed at the attention to detail that Joe had paid to this one surprise birthday. Our stay at the Avenue Inn was nothing less than incredible. Everyone, Joe, Bebe, and the entire staff bent over backwards at every turn to make sure our stay in their home was one we would never forget. No detail was too small, from the attention paid to the continental breakfast offered every morning, to the attention paid to our rooms by the housekeeping staff, all guests were treated as if they were family. My wife and I have traveled extensively and have stayed in many B&Bs. We can honestly say that we have not had a more enjoyable experience, or spent time in a more beautiful B&B than the Avenue Inn on St. Charles Ave. Renovations continue on this magnificent home with the intention of restoring it to its original 1891 condition. The Avenue Inn B&B is an absolute must visit, must see experience. We will be revisiting the Avenue Inn regularly!!!!
