Above average, but with a few problems A review of Embassy Suites Hotel Orlando - North
I'd give this a 4 'bubble' review except that we ran into a few problems that one should not encounter in one visit in a 4 star establishment. The front dest staff was courteous and accommodating. Our first room was very clean and comfortable except that the a/c didn't cool and the room was 'muggy/musty', after all as native Floridians we are accustomed to cooling issues in this hot, humid summer weather. We gave the unit 4 hours to cool to comfortable temperature and the maintenance man did all he could do, but the room never lost the muggy/warm feeling. They were able to move us to a comparable room but with a better view where the a/c did cool appropriately. However, this room was not without it's own set of problems - although not 'serious', were still annoying for the price paid and being our 2nd room. The a/c unit, which is housed in the bathroom, leaked on anyone in the toilet/basin area of the bathroom. The water which leaked was a slightly rusty color which if it had gotten on our clothing would have discolored it. (We did not use this room once we dressed for the day.) There were also a couple of housekeeping issues - cigarette ashes on the floor of the bedroom (in front of the night stand) in our non-smoking room (fortunately there was no cigarette smell). The other minor issue was an empty plastic soda bottle on the balcony. Neither problem was a health issue, but still a housekeeping oversight which should be avoided. We stay in many very nice hotels and overall this Embassy Suites is a nice, older property. Just a little more attention to room housekeeping and maintenance needs to be given. It may be nearing time for an update in the rooms. Commons locations were very nice and breakfast was pleasant as well. The 'egg' man at breakfast was entertaining and friendly.
