A1 Atlantis A review of Atlantis - Royal Towers
Atlantis - 8 - 15 Feb 2005.
My girlfriend and I stayed 7 nights in the royal towers. Lets start with the negative side of the trip.
The first is the flight from the UK, NOT Atlantis' fault, I know but worth mentioning that with Virgin you have to stop over in Miami and it takes ages, but that will be sorted in July with direct flights.
The second, I had pre booked a limousine and it was not at the airport, a simple misunderstanding, they had booked it for 9.30 am not PM! But they got one to the Airport within about 15 minutes so it was ok!
The third and final negative point was our fault; it was not the hotel's fault!!!! 7 days was just not enough we did not want to come home!!
The hotel was amazing, we decided to send the money and stay in the royal towers, and this was really worth the money! You are treated like royalty, I have read reviews that the rooms are shabby and old, well I can tell you that our room was amazing, it was big and looked brand new, we couldn't have asked for better!!!
The hotel grounds are fantastic, it was so big! We had no problems getting a sun bed, we went to the poolside after breakfast (about 9 am) and picked up our towels and reserved a sun bed, no problem, mind you the hotel wasn't full!!! The dig (aquarium) was brilliant, so many fishes, sharks and sting rays! Watch out for the Manta Ray she is massive and only a baby! The water slides are good, there wasn't a huge queue for any slides, my girlfriend was petrified of the sharks!
You may have read the reviews that the food is over priced and not very nice. We I can assure you that if you come from England you won't find the food that expensive. The portions were large and the food was good. We ate at Atlas Bar and Grill (ok), Fathoms (excellent), Villa D'esta (excellent), Bahamian Club (excellent) and the evening buffet at the Market Place (great choice). For lunch we weren't ever that hungry we ate at Murray's which was nice and good value, and mainly just a burger by the pool or a salad at Shark bites and the fish and chips!!! Amazing!!! We eat breakfast every day at Market place, all you can eat buffet for $22??? I think that is great value!!!
The evenings were fun, and the Casino was a good laugh, we even managed to leave in profit! There were a lot of celebrities there, however we didn't know most of them, mainly American tv/sport stars, we did however see Matt Damon!!!!
Seriously this was the best holiday I have ever been on! It really was fantastic, every member of staff we spoke to was very helpful and always had time for a chat. This seemed to be a trait in the whole island as everyone we spoke to was nice.
Well I'm sure I've bored you enough; however I feel I've missed some things, so if you want to know anything else please feel free to email me at Stevietommo@yahoo.co.uk.
