A Warm Welcome A review of Simpsons of Potts Point Hotel
I had trepidations about the location of Simpson's, given some forum comments. Thankfully, they were totally off-base. Simpson's is located on a quiet street in a non-touristy, interesting part of Sydney. Potts Point has fun shops, beautiful homes, and great restaurants. There are two coffee shops with outdoor seating within a stone's throw from the hotel, as well as a fantastic deli around the corner.
Nearby is a naval base and then the Elizabeth Bay section with historical homes and museums. We didn't find that we were too close to the questionable Kings Cross section. But did walk through there one day and not sure what all the fuss was about...
Others have mentioned about the area, so I'll get to the hotel...
From the moment we booked our reservation, John, the manager, was extraordinarily helpful. He gave a listing of useful websites and booked us a driver to meet us at the airport. When we arrived at 9 a.m., he had breakfast waiting and, amazingly, our room was ready. (Had it been occupied, we could have used the shower in the roomy bathroom off the living room and he would have stored our bags).
We were there with a very curious and active, to say the least, 5 year old. The staff indulged him and made us all feel at home.
The decor was the nicest in all our month-long travels in AU. Tasteful and elegant in keeping with the boutique hotel.
Can't wait to go back!
