A very nice hotel in the foothills A review of Quality Inn & Suites

My four year old son and I spent a week at the Country Inn and Suites on Oracle. We ended up there after the Best Western on Oracle failed to keep our reservation. See my review of that dive.

We checked in at 10:00 in the morning and were immediately provided a room. The room, although not huge, was spacious, clean and well maintained. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of hot water for the shower. Also, the room had a full kitchen. Although we didn't use it, we could have eaten in the room every day.

I was very satisfied with the free breakfast which included fresh waffles on four of the five mornings we were there.

The pool was large with plenty of tables and lounges around it. The pool was seperated into two sections, one of which was three feet deep.

Perfect for my son. The spa was near the pool and was very warm.

The staff at the hotel was terrific. Everyone of them smiled and said hello when we passed. Housekeeping did a great job with linens and every day when we came back, my son found his teddy bear lounging on a pillow next to or under his blanket. A touch very much appreciated by my son. I think it also showed that housekeeping cared.

The cost was very reasonable ($105.00). When we checked in, I was told the room would be $135.00, about $20.00 more than the BW. However, when I told him we were staying 5 nights, the clerk immediately knocked off $30.00 per night so I ended up paying $10.00 less per night than at the BW. The clerk offered the discount. I didn't have to ask.

The view from the hotel was also great. I asked for a quiet room and was given a room in the back on the top floor. Great view of two mountain ranges and away from Oracle, a very busy road.

My only criticizm is that some of the extras were a bit pricey.

Although I brought my lap top, there was no way too hook it up. Local phone calls cost $1.00 each and the high speed internet was $10.00 per day. Nothing major.

If you are looking for the Drake, this isn't it. However, if you are looking for a clean hotel with a lot of extras at a reasonable price, stay here. The staff truly made us feel at home. We will definetly stay there again next spring.
