A unique hotel, but something missing A review of Sofitel Miami

We stayed here for one night following our recent cruise. We got a great price ($62) via hotwire. While there are some impressive things about the hotel (quite stunning art deco renovations, expansive grounds, pretty lagoon-side location, nice touches in the rooms including bath robes and expensive-looking french toiletries), our overall impression was somewhat flat. No-one greeted us at the door (bell boy finally showed up after we rounded up a cart ourselves and loaded up our bags), front glass door and windows were dirty, service was adequate but not enthusiastic. This is an OK place for a one-night stay if you get a good price, but somehow it just isn't the high class place it attempts to be. I'm not sure I would stay here again. By the way, if you stay, give their airport shuttle bus a try. It is full of curved leather lounging sofas and the driver handed out Evian water!
