A tragedy of a hotel. A review of Hyatt Regency Rochester
This is a tragedy of a hotel.
I was charged almost $200 a night for my room. When reserving it, I was asked if I was there on business, I said yes, and requested that the room have a desk and an area where I could work and set up a computer.
When I arrived, my room had a bed, a dresser, two side tables and that was it. The rug smelled dank. The bed was horrible- hard, without even a mattress pad. The furniture in the room looked like it should have been condemned- all deeply scratched and dented. Two of the four drawers in the dresser came off the hinges! The bathroom was pitiful- a scrungy floor and a sink that would take two hours to drain after a quick shave. The hotel staff were indifferent to my concerns regarding the room.
I am a professional who travels often on business. I have stayed in better "Motel 6" type establishments for 29.99 when I was a poor college student. Paying that much for so little in a place billed as an "upscale" hotel is an insult. Thank goodness my company is being robbed of the cost of this hotel instead of me personally.
The location of the hotel is not good. When I ran out of supplies, my shopping options in the vicinity of the hotel were Family Dollar and a Everything's a Dollar store across the street.
This hotel has been labelled "the best that Rochester has to offer".
Perhaps that is true. If so, it is a bad reflection on Rochester.
