A throw back to old England - a relaxing time A review of The Lakehouse, Cameron Highlands

We spent two nights here in November 2006. The welcome is warm and friendly, the hotel is clean and very well presented (our room and bathromm were beautifuil) and photogenic. The gardens are good for queit conmtemplation though the main road does have its share of noisy vehicles during the day.

The service is clealry based on an olde world English guest house \ hotel of the 1950s / 1960s (sadly no longer on offer in England itself) where guests are given few reasons to venture away from the hotel. I this area, this seemed a wise choise to us, Ringlet and Tanah Rata do offer some limited dining \ drinking experieinces but transport is patchy.

The hotel bar and restaraunt were well stocked though maybe on the expenmsive side, especiallly the imported wines. The meal service at times was slow between courses but the food quality was excellent.

Anyone not on a backpackers budget should stay for a night or two and unwind.
