A taste of unspoilt Thailand A review of Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa
If you are looking for a taste of unspoilt Thailand, then look no further. The Amari Trang has the most fantastic location for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
The hotel is located on a quiet beach where most mornings we could stroll after breakfast and not meet another person. The only other people around were the local fishermen and farmers. The only criticism here, is that there was an amount of glass washed up on the shore. I have found this problem on a growing number of beaches in the Far East and it is a real shame. We saw (and removed) glass every day, but some people at the hotel never saw any.....so maybe we were just unlucky. Having made this criticism I have to say that we loved the beach....quiet, peaceful and often deserted, which is rare.
The hotel provides sun loungers and parasols on the beach and bring cold towels and fruit during the day. The pool is lovely with lots of sun loungers and a great bar serving food and drinks. The bar staff were great and we enjoyed chatting to them whilst we drank cold Singha and ate tasty food for lunch.
The restaurants served a variety of food from Thai to Italian. The food was excellent and in particular the Thai food was authentic and very tasty. If you want to eat outside of the hotel, there are a handful of 'beach restaurants' serving local Thai food. We tried them and they were great. The food was fresh and the Thai curry was amazing. The hotel will take you to these restaurants in their mini bus and collect you at an agreed time.
The rooms were good and had a very unusual designed bathroom, which I loved. They were comfortable and clean and had a nice little balcony. My only slight criticism is that I thought the rooms looked a little 'tired' which is surprising as the hotel is only two years old.
The staff were wonderful and could not do enough to help. They were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel has its own boat and will take you out for snorkeling or to their island, which is just idyllic. The hotel's spa also offered great massage which we really enjoyed.
We loved our stay at the Amari Trang and would definately go there again. Go and enjoy a little taste of paradise!
