A Slice of Maine A review of The Colony Hotel
My family has been traveling to Maine since the 1970's. We always rented a house when the children were growing up, and we would pass the hotel frequently and wonder. Now that the family is grown, we decided to try The Colony and were very happily suprised. We also have a dog, which attracted us because the hotel is pet friendly. We went on the Fourth of July and could not have been more impressed with the beauty of the historic hotel, and their love and tolerance of all dogs, big and small. The pool is beautiful with a great view, the breakfast is awesome, and included in the price. A tea is set up at tea time for guests to enjoy. People are respectful and dress appropriately for the dining room. Families abound and it is fun to see them all dressed for the fourth! (some with their pets) There is a fabulous old porch where one can sit and enjoy the sunset or sunrise. There is an abundance of good eating establishments available within a comfortable walk, along with a nice little private beach right across the way. The Colony exudes the charm of Kennebunkport, Maine. You know, it's not The Four Seasons, but it's a colorful, comfortable place to stay to enjoy the southern coast of Maine!
