A review from a traveling salesman, not a rich nitpicky snob. A review of Doubletree Houston Intercontinental Airport
I stayed twice in January '05, once having a room on the 4th floor, and once having a room on the 7th floor, which was somewhat larger. I booked each room through Priceline at $37 each plus about $10 in taxes and fees. My rooms were very clean, the beds were very comfortable, the pillows and sheets were high quality, large desks, and I was very pleased. My room on the 7th floor even had a cordless phone. I didn't see any of the problems other reviewers mentioned, and I looked closely ("chipped lamp, marred furniture, chipped furniture" - who cares? Are you buying it?). I will be happy if Priceline puts me there again, and I will certainly request a room on the 7th floor. The service at the restaurants was very poor. Room service was speedy; the chocolate cake is delicious. The airport shuttle was fine. Wireless high-speed internet is provided by T-Mobile, a Day Pass is $9.99. The TV doesn't have many channels, which is very disappointing to me. I don't care for the temperature controls, as there seems to be too much hysteresis effect; and the fan is quite loud, but it never shuts off and it drowns out any other noises that might wake you up.
