A Restaurant with Rooms A review of Rock House
As it turned out, The Rock House, particularly the main building, is a restaurant with rooms. Not knowing about the location of our room, we reserved the "Monkey Room." It was smack dab in the middle of their two restaurants, The Grill and their main dining room.
The first night (we booked the week of New Year's/2004) was great, but the second night it was as though we were sleeping under the dining room table. The noise from the main dining room was incredible. This was following by loud talking and clinking china the next morning as the other side of our room was adjacent to where they served lunch.
The menu is good - the chef does a great job with variety and sauces. The rooms in the schoolhouse would be fine, but we feel that the management should be more "up front" about the location of the rooms in the main building. The management even mentioned that they should move us, but never did. We checked out after two nights and relocated at The Coral Sands, directly on the ocean.
Another glitch occurred when our flight was cancelled for our first night, the hotel charged us for this night and did not offer any type of compensation.
