A Really Great Cambridge Hotel A review of The Inn at Harvard
I stayed at the Inn at Harvard for 3 nights November 2005. It is a lovely hotel, the location is great and only 5 mins stroll to Harvard T station. The university is on the doorstep and there is a lot to do in Cambridge if you are worried that it is too far out of Boston for sightseeing. The museums in the university are great and there are some good shops in Cambridge too.
The room I had (401) was great and beautifully presented, the bathroom was lovely. It was a bit mean to have to pay for the mineral water that was in the room though. Also there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. However the restaurant area is lovely, and is like a courtyard in the centre of the hotel. You can have breakfast and listen to all the visting academics' conversations over pancakes and coffee! I would agree with another reviewer that the prices for food were on the high side, but there are lots of other places in Cambridge to get food and cafe life in the area is the best.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel, the staff were very helpful and when I go back to Boston in 2006, I will definitely stay at the Inn again. If you like books it is absolutely the best place as thet bookshops in the vicinity are tops - especially the Harvard Bookstore.
For the first part of my trip I had 2 nights at the Harvard Square Hotel (OK for basic comfort but still quite pricey) as the Inn was full, but they are in a different league. I'd say save up the extra bucks and choose the Inn.
