A *real* vacation A review of Small Hope Bay Lodge
I have travelled all over the Caribbean, Hawaii, Europe, and Australia and I believe that this was the first "real" vacation that I have ever had! From the moment that I arrived at the resort and was checked in at the outside bar overlooking the clearest water I have ever seen, I was in love with the place. I was travelling with my friend who was out diving every day and I just read my book, helped myself to drinks from the bar, made some new friends, and chilled right out. My friend would come back from diving at lunch time and again late in the afternoon and rave about her dives and show us pictures from her digital camera. Too bad that I am not a diver because the pictures looked great (maybe I will learn on my next trip). I was there during Easter which was great fun. The owner's girlfriend, teenage son, nieces, and nephews put on an easter egg hunt for the younger guest kids and dinner was an absolute feast with lobster, ham, turkey, and about 15 different desserts including mousses, cheesecakes, pies, and bahamian specialties. The lodge was full while we were there, but with 2 beaches, a dock, solarium, hot tub, outdoor bar/patio, lounge, inside bar, games room for kids, and glass room for reading I never felt crowded. This is a very special place and I cannot wait to go back, maybe I'll bring my kids next time (they are all scuba divers).
