A pretty average experience... A review of Radisson Royal Hotel Moscow

We stayed at the Hotel Ukraina for the recent world figure skating championship.

We got a good priced room (£55 sterling) but for that it is a 1950s experience. Clean enough but drab. The boasted "River view" also centres on a industrial wasteland. The breakfast was poor. it was a Buffet style but we came across out of date bread rolls and dirty glasses.

Have to say as well the the staff were negative. I approached the reception on half a dozen occasions and each time a gaggle of staff were talking to themselves and clearly resented a visitor interrupting them. Sour faced and aggressive. They also charge to keep luggage on your last day and they want 2000 roubles to take you to dodo airport.

Moscow in winter is not the easiest place to visit. A nice, friendly hotel with good food can make a difference. The Hotel Ukraina doesn't offer that.
