A new property still trying to get it right A review of Embassy Suites Tampa - Downtown Convention Center
The Embassy Suites Tampa Convention Center has all of the amenities of a typical Embassy Suites, so you get the two-room room, refrigerator, microwave, wetbar, etc. The room itself is nice, and the property is still very new. Some things just need to get smoothed out though. Negatives include the four elevators that are among the slowest I have ever seen (be prepared to wait 5 minutes for one to come), a sad excuse for a business center (they never did have toner in the printers during my entire 5 days there), internet connections that are so slow I usually just gave up (but, it is free in the room) ,a very uneven selection of food at breakfast (free!) and usually they are out of at least one type of provided food, a bar where they couldn't change an empty keg for 5 days, and a staff that cover a wide range from very good/polite/helpful to rude and uninformed. While that sounds quite negative, these were smaller problems, and overall the property is average. It has a prettygood potential and is literally across the street from the convention center (even attached by a bridge over the street). The location is great, the physical components of the room are good, but the details are lacking and the service is marginal at best.
