A journey back through time... A review of The Sainte Claire
I go away on business trips all the time this time I got a room at the Sainte Claire for a week.
Walking through the doors, you are transported back in time to the 1920's with the beautiful decor, grand hall lobby, and brass elevators.
The staff behind the desk was nothing but helpful when I asked questions about what there was to do in the city or where certain places were located.
The only setback was the walls in the rooms are paper thin. I could hear my neighbors TV and they were not even playing it very loud.
I ordered room service and it came within 20 minutes! That in my book is AMAZING! The food in the Italian restaurant in the lobby is HORRIBLE! DO NOT EAT THERE! It is overpriced and when I got my dinner it was cold in the middle and scorching on the outside. I sent it back and it took 10 minutes for it to come back to me (Lord knows what they did to it in the kitchen) Plus ordering hot chocolate and a scone in the morning there will set you back $6.00! McDonalds is up the road and it is cheaper (and the food is better believe it or not)
This is definately a retreat for lovers or for those people looking for the perfect place for a second honeymoon (even though San Jose there is NOTHING to do in the city, so rent a car) but not for the business traveler.
Would I go back there??? Maybe for a night or two but not another week.
