A great place to watch lightening! A review of Desert Rose Inn & Cabins
We stayed here one night, between Mesa Verde and Monument Valley trips. It was delightful and a good value. It's more like a motel than a true inn (it has no restaurant or breakfast service, but it is charming). My kids felt very comfortable here and we all enjoyed not only our room, but the wraparound porch that had comfortable wooden chairs in front of each room on the 2nd floor. The setting was amazing! At night, we were treated to a fabulous summer storm--and the view of the lightening was simply awesome from the porch! Lots of Bluff seemed closed down but we found a pretty good outdoor steak dinner at the Cottonwood Steakhouse (got interesting when the rain began) and a nice breakfast at the Twin Rocks cafe. I would definitely stop in Bluff again, based on our experience with the Desert Rose! But if you go in August, make reservations--the town was booked when we arrived mid-week, in early evening and the manager indicated it had been very busy!
