A beautiful hideaway A review of Howard Creek Ranch
What a glorious place to rest, relax, and just be. There is so much nature to absorb there, that I always want to stay for days and days and days.
The energy of the coastal hills, with the fog rolling over them; the roar of the ocean waves on the beach, while sea otters peek their heads out of the waves, watching you watch them;
the silence of the redwood forest, with its magical beauty and mystic air;
the creek winding its way home through blackberries (yum) and alders.
Will a wild fox appear, a skunk, a porcupine or a deer, or maybe one of Sally's kitties? The llama and Navaho sheep are great fun to watch. I love all the birds in Sally's garden!
Antiques are everywhere, as is fitting an historic landmark. The car in the blackberries and an old tractor are two of my favorites outside!
Inside, antiques and memorabilia (I especially like the old, huge, moose head!) in the old farm house, or in one of the incredibly, artistc creations of Sunny's individually designed redwood rooms.
Each room is clean, completely unique, and offers its own beauty and peaceful retreat. Some are rustic and simple. Some are comfy and cozy. Some are exquisite. Captain and Carriage are my favorites. Willow is great, when I bring my dog.
A work in progress, I'm amazed to see what Sunny has built or added from year to year. A hiking trail, a balcony, a new room, a hot tub?
You can chat with folks, see what's happening around the ranch or you can disappear into the wonders of mother earth's gifts.
It's the best deal on the coast if you like to get away, and de-stress from the world's hectic pace! I love it there, and only wish I could go more often or stay longer when I do.
