3 day break over Christmas 2004 A review of Hotel Century Old Town Prague
It is always difficult when you are looking at hotels on-line and whenever possible I try to get the real experiences of people who have stayed there. This was a good choice and I would recommend it to friends.
We picked the hotel because of its links to Kafka (2 teenage children interested in philosophy etc) and we were not disappointed. The rooms were not large but they were very typical of a city hotel and they were clean, well appointed and confortable. As a reviewer has said don't be tempted by the mini bar the prices are high, my kids helped themselves to a small tub of pringles (tub was out of date!) which we replaced from the food store a couple of doors away at about a quarter of the cost.
The staff were very friendly and the reception were very helpful in booking us tables and excursions. Importantly they have hotel cars and they will pick you up from the airport (I have always wanted to be met by someone in arrivals with a my name board!) They will put the cost of this onto your hotel bill which is helpful. The bar is great for a mulled wine or cup of chocolate after a day out. Breakfast was better than expected with a hot English option.
The hotel is in a great location for walking into the old town and all the sights, we did not use the trams or buses. We were there for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year, would do it again.
