1st Hilton stay & not impressed (2nd floor) A review of Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport
This was my first time staying at a Hilton property and from my experiences I'm skeptical to stay at another. First I'd like to say the staff was excellent and very helpful. The shuttle picked me up from the airport less than 5 minutes after calling to request it. Then when checking in the woman ran my card and asked if I had another because it hadn't gone through. I knew there were funds in the account and the card was working properly so I asked her to run it again, but before she could another guy stepped over and pushed some buttons and had me in a room in no time. My reservations were made through a travel agent who didn't have my HHonors number, but when I checked in my number was attached to my room, not sure how this happened, but it was nice. So I go up to the room and the first thing I notice is the dirty window. Both the inside and outside of the glass was covered in dust and you could see where people had written on it when it was previously fogged up. The little notepad holders had peoples names and numbers written all over them and the nightstand was covered in 'pen grafitti.' The bathroom suprised me with how small it was and the trash can was cracked all the way to the bottom. The door to the hallway had a HUGE 1" gap from the bottom of the door to the floor and I could easily hear everything going on in the hallway, despite the small amount of traffic. Though all of these problems are pretty much cosmetic, I expected better from a Hilton. The leather chair was comfortable and the beds were excellent for hotel beds. If I'm back in DC I think I'll try the Hampton down the street.
