1 of 8 Chance of Getting Great Room A review of Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport - Burlingame
I stayed one night in July 2004. I booked via Priceline and expected to receive the worst room in the hotel. The desk clerk originally offered me a room on the second floor but when I asked for the quietest room available she gave me a room on the 6th floor. The hotel is atrium style and I find rooms overlooking an atrium to always be too noisy. The hotel is next to the freeway. As I headed towards my room I expected to have an atrium or freeway room. Instead, my room was on the one side of the building that directly overlooks the San Francisco Bay. The room was at least average sized, but the view was excellent. If all the rooms were like the one I was assigned, this would be an excellent hotel. However, because the hotel has the atrium style and is next to the freeway the odds are that you will not get a Bay view room.
The hotel is near the airport but little else. It is in an area of smaller, modern office buildings. Across the street is a small one-screen movie house, a Sizzler and some kind of Mongolian restaurant. Behind those businesses is the Bay and if you walk a little south you reach a walking trail next to the water. Walking to the north a few blocks along a realtively busy street gets you to a Benihana (sp).
In short, the hotel was in good condition, the staff was friendly, and I had an excellent room. However, because of the configuration and location of the hotel, most of the rooms are not going to be great, and there is little to do nearby.
