These second two weeks in Fiji seemed to have gone by much too fast. However, now that we've gotten much more accustomed to the ways and means for surviving here (such as childcare, where to eat, how to get around, and of course Internet access), our days just fly by. In fact, if we didn't have family back home to help us remember, we would have missed the biggest U.S. holiday of the year... Nobody knows what Thanksgiving is in Fiji. Even the Australians are pretty unaware of the fourth Thurs...

Yaro, Western, Fiji 3110280477... s Pizza... it was recommended by past trips before we left. It was pretty good pizza. Paul and I shared a margherita pizza and garlic bread. Also, Fiji water is so cheap here as compared to the states... we kinda lucked out with the trip we are on having good drinking water!<br><br>It was a fun 2nd day in Fiji! Our first clinic day begins tomorrow! :)<br><br>-Erin
Natandola, Fiji erinandpaul07... in the price of admission. This was topped by a really good group of people on the island, meaning that although the weather wasn't brilliant, as it had been in Beachcomber, we had an absolutely awesome time. Strangely, we also made friends with a guy who is a school mate of two of my former university housemates, who was travelling his sister and friend for a few weeks. <br>After the action of Robinson Crusoe, we headed to the Uprising in Pacific Harbour ...
Fiji, Fiji jonathanbug... the 300 different islands... I have just posted some pictures to describe the country.<br> <br><br>Day 54 - Day 58)<br>Some long flights that included a one day layover in New Zealand, a quick trip through China, a sleepless night in Los Angeles, and finally back home.
Denarau Island, Viti Levu, Fiji jonathan.felixWe were picked up 40 minutes late from our hotel and taken to the harbour where we got on a tall ship called Ramarama, which we know means butterfly in Malaysian. We set off for Tivua, a tiny island in the Mamanuca Islands, just off the coast. It took an hour and a half to get there, and on the way we were given snacks and a demonstration of a traditional kava ceremony. Kava is a potent drink served in half a coconut. They clap a bit ...
Tavua, Western, Fiji angela_louise... were able to go because the media in New Zealand and Australia were reporting rioting in Suva and advising people not to go to Fiji. There ended up being a media black out and only decided that we would go because John spoke to a Fijian person in a pub who had been in a Fiji while the news was still reporting rioting. As we drove through the city there was no sign of rioting and you never would have guessed that anything had happened there.<br><br>We went to Wailouta village to meet the ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji annemarie.demp... the swell is large and the wind strong, making it difficult to locate the mooring above the dive site. When we eventually find it, it is 2m underwater even at low tide due to the local currents and after diving in and almost being beheaded by the outboard, Hannah decide it's too dangerous. Our other options are actually rather limited given the roughness of the sea and the passing squalls so we elect for Mana Wall, a protected drop-off near the beach. The feeling of being ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji adam_and_kim... m sure its awesome for those with more experience but too much for the timid. It always seemed to be low tide and the reefs around the island are straight away from shore. The second night we participated in an international hermit race and picked 2 tiny yet feisty crabs, neither made it to the semis. But our kiwi friends finished 1st place and were kind enough to share their bar tab winnings with us. All proceeds went to the local island village education fund.
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji trizzyb... have a nice beach and activities planned for the guests everyday. Yesterday, Kris and I went Kayaking....at one point there was a huge splash in the water and we high tailed in back to the resort....we happened to be by the mouth of a river emptying out into the sea, and I know sharks like to hang out in these locations, so my imagination went wild and we paddled out of there right a way. In the eveinings, there are millions of frogs around...you have to watch that you don ...
