... his gs650 into my garage when I heard a crash. Dropped bike at mile .000001. Not a great start. Spend a few hours packing and munching on some left over pizza (thanks Lisa!) and Wade was feeling better. Two panniers and one duffle bag and we're all set. Good night sleep and an early start ...

Their kiddos made me laugh multiple times. Great people! We had a downpour of rain this afternoon. Only lasted an hour or so & the rest of the day (weekend) was nice. Very hot, but ...
... creativity & perspective & our unique gifting. The idea of not living boxed in, boxed up....but to let our creativity pour out. Very neat conversation. I was encouraged & i know Robin was as well. I pray she will leave this place more EXCITED & CONFIDENT in her unique gifts :) & that she will shine ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Woodlands Inn ~ Ascend Collection by Choice Hotels Wilkes-Barre
The Woodlands has a lot to offer in the area of entertainment. With multiple bars, a dance club, and dining it is a place where you can just enjoy being at the resort.
We stayed in a suite and it was reasonably priced and quite nice. The staff was friendly and accomodating. This is a nice place to stay if you are in the area or doing business in the area. Be aware that it is not a Pocono getaway.
We booked two nights for a little get-away and were drawn by the descriptions on their website. We booked a stream-side view room which, while clean and well maintained did not match the images on the website.
We stayed at the Woodlands Inn for New Years eve in 2004. The package deal seemed reasonable and we stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights ($180 first night and $90 the next). We stayed in one of their newly renovated rooms in the main wing. The room was fairly nice, but a little small. It was clean however which was the important part. The bath was cheapy done but got the job done. The view from our room was a parking lot, which was not as pretty as the "stream side" rooms but the advantage is the stream side rooms are older and not as nice. The one biggest disappointment which is why I gave 3 stars is the smoke. You are allowed to smoke everywhere in this place and it made everything smell like an old ashtray. People smoked in the halls in the lobby even near the pool too. They are famous for their 18,000 gallon hot tub, but it was more like a heated pool. We saw numerous people getting a little too frisky in the tub too, Id recommend a shower afterwords if you use the tub. The restaurant they had in the resort was very expensive $30/plate and mediocre. The New Years party in the inn was played up to be the premere attraction in wilkes barre and it was fun...but not worth $80 a ticket. The bar was nice with short lines and top shelf liqour but the buffet disappeared quick and was never refilled. There were a lot of younger people there who were quite intoxicated and looking to start fights, which was a disappointment. The staff was freindly and we got roomservice every day. The building is not very impressive and kinda looks like an old office building whenyou pull up, but it was an average place to stay. If you make reservations by phone see if you can bargain...apparently we could have gotten rooms as low as $60 but we didnt know to. Bottom line is the hotel is clean and staff is attentive, not everything is perfect but you'll never find a perfect hotel.
we stayed at a streamside room and it was literally over the creek. The property is nested between I81 and hwy 315. You're not in a secluded forest, but at times it seems that way. we went after a mid winter melt so the stream was running well, but in a mid summer heat wave don't expect much.
After seeing their web site which paints a beautiful picture, when you first pull into their parking lot you will wonder if you're at the right place. Their marketing says:
Fabulous vacation time spent with family!!!
I love this hotel!! I visit once a year with a high school marching band. Every year we go up to compete in the championship competition, and are welcomed with open arms by the kindness of Woodlands. Their pool and fitness room are two extras that other hotels cannot complete with. I can't wait to go this year, and hopefully, if the band continues to do well, will visit for the next couple of years.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a place like this in Wilkes Barre. I was in town on business and expected to be subjected to the run-of-the-mill motel. The Woodlands Inn is an old property that has been renovated. Get yourself a room in the new section, whatever you do. The newer rooms are fantastically comfortable, very well appointed and have high speed internet access, which is always nice.
It,s good at the Wood-lands
My wife and I spent one night at the Woodlands and were very happy with our chose thanks to tripadviser. The hotel is clean, the pool is nice, and the whirlpool room is cool. The free breakfast was a nice extra.I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting this area of Pa.
Had A good stay and alot of
Had good stay, the only bad thing Id have to say where the Girls that worked the Front Desk, Brenda was kinda rude and quick. The late nite front desk Brian was VERY helpful and answered all of our questions and very friendly. Was a little loud but was a weekend.
Meet me in the Woods again!!!
I was very impressed with the HOTEL'S RE-MODELING. It was FANTASTIC... The bedding was the best ( EVEN BETTER THAN THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL!!! ) and the bathroom floor was amazing.. EVERYONE MUST SEE IT...this was a run down hotel, that did a great comeback...CHECK IT OUT!!
