    ... It was the USS Cod (SS-244) that had served with distinction in the South Pacific. It was great to be able to share this piece of history with Alex, not the least because my dad, his grandfather, had served on a similar type of submarines in the early 1960s. One of Alex's impressions of the boat, which turned out to be correct, was that there was not nearly enough space for everyone to sleep.

    ... along with a volleyball net (which we didn't even see). We were unhappy that we were out in the open on a hill - directly in the bright sunshine. The AC unit in the camper was on full-blast! The camper lot was very big with another level down the hill. There was a great hill for me to get some excercise on my bike though!

    ... interesting array of tools that were used on the farm. The painting on the side of the barn had a good story as well. It was painted by Harley Warrick, who painted the slogan for the chewing tobacco company for 55 years. He actually painted over 20,000 barns in his lifetime.
