Unfortunately due to an inadequate map pin location map on Travelpod, I cannot diagramatically demonstrate where I went on Fiji. I will split this up into 3 entries, to represent the 3 islands I visited, I ended up taking the advice of many a traveller and getting off the main land as soon as possible and heading out to the Islands. First stop was The Walu Beach Resort on Maololo Island, where I spent 3 nights. Secondly I visited Mana Island, and stayed at Ratu Kinis, for 4 nights. Finally I ...
Maololo Island, Fiji benihnioON AN ISLAND IN THE SUN WE'LL BE PLAYING HAVING FUN Week started off with a job interview for a coffee shop in town, but I didn't get it! So I'm still unemployed! So John finally made it over from Dublin to NZ and his friend Bermo came over from Australia and the two of them came over to Wanaka to pick me up to go over to Queenstown to go Heli Rafting and Jet Boating. Everything had been going great for them in NZ but they didn't have a bad luck charm with them, that would be me! We got to th...
Fiji, Fiji mrsplaying_deadBula from Fiji everyone! Wow! Can this trip get any better? After sliding down slopes, hanging off telegraph poles, dunking off bridges, jumping off buildings and getting friendly with sheep in New Zealand, I was in need of a well deserved rest. Fiji (Fun In the Jungle Islands) has been just the tonic. Sun, Sea and Kava!!! I'd arranged my Fiji trip with a local travel agent that was recommended to me (thanks Jess). It was a good service I received. My contact, Christa, meeted and greeted as I...
Nadi, Fiji oflareypantsBula Bula Bula!! We arrived into Nadi and noticed immediately the difference in temperature. Lovely sunshine and temps around 30-35 degrees met us as we left the plane. From a previous blog by one of Rhona's friends we stayed at Mama's Tropic of Capricorn hostel about 10mins from the airport. This was a great suggestion and it was indeed an honour to say hello to the lovable hostess and owner: Mama! Thanks for always making us feel at home and all the cooked dinners and breakfasts! After stay...

... riding a bike. I am like a kid in a candy store jumping from one great sport to another. I feel so lucky to have learned these skills when I was young and to have a grandfather that took time to teach them to me. Although he has passed on, I wish he could see what great memories he left me by taking time to teach me sailing at an early age.

We play Rummy 500 on the beach. Hirveen kokonen kaupunkihan toi Auckland on mut jotenki nihee. Käykää ite zekkaamassa ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji miiajussi... as despite returning with about 15 fish, they only gave us 4 between about 20 of us but still it was welcome to have a taste of something other than rice! So we spènt our last night eating fresh fish, drinking Kava and chatting to the local guys and other guests, which felt like a very fitting end to our week in Fiji. The morning before we got the taxi boat back was the Tuesday before Easter and we were lucky enough to catch the beginning of the islanders' Easter celebrations (most ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jessjamie... ass lunch, with a serious case of the munchies, and mowed down and drank beer and were merry. nice chilled out cruise home while we pounded as much free beer as possible to get our moneys worth (plus a few for the road) and headed back home. awesome decision to go, otherwise sean and i would probably be bitter and grumpy about our trip like the old dudes sitting on the balcony being negative in the muppets. you know what im talking about
Mamanuca Islands, Fiji tsquared... to the door right past where he was standing. The sudden move confused him. He stared at Lynda's arm. The bag wasn't there. As we pressed headlong out the door the man headed over to where we had been sitting, obviously searching for the (to his mind) missing bag. We were out on the street and moving away. I heard Lynda draw breath and whisper, "He's following us!" We sped into the Lautoka markets and got lost in the crowd and that moment was when our ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji laurieslife... sunny weather. So it was good to be up and back early, as the pool was calling. Another official Kava-ceremony the day before was followed by an more or less illegal (let's say inofficial) one at the staff's bure (a bure is a traditional fijian house) on my last evening. Another thing was my pre-booked day-sailing trip through the Mamanucas, including a shopping-stop in a village and a beach stop on the (uninhabited) island Monuriki, the ...
