Waikiki Resort Hotel Honolulu

This hotel is an EXCELLENT value!! Like I said, ONE block from the beach, for nearly a third of the price of beachfront places. The room was small, and the hotel overall was geared toward Korean visitors (which was okay, but sort of weird since we weren't Korean), but the staff was helpful and you can't beat the location or price of this place. Definitely would come back!!

We stayed at this hotel from May 8-11. The best thing about this hotel was that it was only about a block from Waikiki Beach. The rooms were clean & comfortable, though the decor was a tad dated & could have used some modernizing. This hotel seemed characteristic of many of the Waikiki-area hotels in this price range -- old and outdated, but relatively clean & comfortable. We've stayed in much worse places, but then if you're looking for luxury & lavishness, you wouldn't be looking in this price range anyway... :)

Hotel was nice, nothing fancy. Did need some updating. Room was clean, once again nothing fancy. Bathroom had very small tub (more like shower only). We had city view. I felt very safe here. Security was all over. Found good rate on their web site that included breakfast. Had to choose from American (eggs, meat, toast), Japanese style, Hawaiian French Toast, Pancakes, or cold cereal. The hotel is only 1 block from the beach, about 1-1/2 blocks from the main part of Waikiki, and 1 1/2 blocks to the International Marketplace. Staff friendly. Charged extra for in-room safe. I would definately stay here again!

The hotel is very close to the beach and all the shopping, restaurants and bus. The staff were nice and helpful. We got a low rate, therefore the room was nothing special (like all the others). Next time I would stay higher up, since there are condos directly looking in if your room is on the back (too bad there are no sheers). I had to bring my own coffee maker and blowdryer. There is cheap laundry in the basement and parking $6 night. The dresser/vanity in the room was falling apart so we couldn't use the drawers. The TV had lots of channels and Pay Movies. There was lots of hot water all the time. The shower/small bathtub and toilet are separate from the sink which works well. ABC stores on every corner, and MacDonalds & Starbucks close. We felt safe in this area.

I recently stayed at the Waikiki Resort and was dissapointed. When we were checking in one the light fixtures in the ceiling fell and almost hit a child on the head. The rooms were ok in size but the beds were broken, I mean literally broken. The bathrub was dirty, it had stains everywhere. Also the pool area looks like it has been abandoned by the staff.

This hotel is mainly geared towards Korean and Japanese tourist, from the restaurants to the shops. The only good thing that I can say about the hotel is the location and price. It's a 2 min walk to the beach, if I was strapped for cash and really wanted to get back to hawaii I might consider it just for its location.

This will be our 3rd time staying here and we loved it. The staff is very friendly, the roos always clean, the price and location is great.

We stay here from 3 to 4 weeks each time we have come.

By no means was this a "resort" but you can't beat the location for the the price. The hotel is a block from Waikiki Beach and close to everything including the zoo and aquarium. The room was clean and comfortable. Derek at the reservations desk is very accommodating and helpful. I've already booked my next trip back for November!

I thought the staff members were wonderful! The room was clean and yes it did need some updating. Because the staff were so helpful and warm, we would stay here again.

We stayed at the Waikiki Resort for 8 nights in March 2003. There were 3 of us in the room , and it was plenty spacious. We had a partial ocean view room with a great view. The location, which is half a block away from the beach, was within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go including restaurants, shows, and shopping. The hotel personnel were friendly and helpful. As with all hotels, there were little things that needed fixing or updating, but that is to be expected. The refrigerator in the room worked well, and was handy for keeping beverages and fruit. It would have been nice to have a hairdryer in the bathroom, but we brought our own anyway. We will definitely stay there again.

Oh my gosh. What. A. Dump.

The lobby gives you a false sense of security... it is very plesant, but just wait until you take the elevator up to you room! As soon as the elevator doors open, you are assualted by the smell of mold and mildew. Our room was on directly behind the elevators and the constant grinding sound was very annoying. Our balcony railing was pulling away from the building and very unsafe. The room was barely big enough for the double bed. Everything metal in the room was rusting. The dresser drawers fell out everytime they were opened. The thermostat was permanently set at 85 (until I broke it open and lowered it to 70... even then, it never got below 80). The carpet had stains everywhere...

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away.
