Room at the far end of the complex had no views and 12 air conditioning units outside which did create noise but you get used to it. Pools and numbers of sun loungers were inadequate for the number of guests. Main buffet restaurant varied between rubbish to accepatble but Pizzeria, A la carte and beach bar were fantastic. Entertainment was average. Staff very friendly Beach about 10 minutes walk was very clean and had lots of sun beds
Overall had a great holiday with few complaints

I don't know where to begin, the staff were out of this world and the food was superb. My husband is a fussy eater at the best of times, but found something he liked at every meal. the rooms were cleaned to a high standard each day and all the staff had a real smile for everyone even the rude people that seemed hell bent on being rude to everyone.
WELL DONE WE WILL BE BACK THANKS

Had a wonderful holiday!

My boyfriend and I have just got back from 2 glorious weeks at the Victoria. We booked a last minute deal and were originally booked to stay at the Gran Ventana but Thomas Cook had double booked us (typical), so we ended up staying at the Victoria. This was the best thing to happen to us as the Ventana was more like a Butlins holiday camp, whereas the Victoria was very relaxing. We were allocated a room right at the far end of the complex and on our first evening, we discovered the bathroom light was not working so reported it to Reception, who offered us a lovely room over looking the golf course.
We were even more delighted when we realised they had actually upgraded us to a junior suite which was lovely. The staff at the Victoria are out of this world, nothing is too much effort for them, especially the bar staff and bell boys! Ok so this hotel is not 4* luxury but the friendliness of the staff and the surroundings more than make up for this. Onto the food, the Pizzeria was our favourite, I have to say I think they were the best I've ever tasted, and you must try the Banana Flambe for desert, we thought the flames were never going to disappear!
The A la carte restaurant is also very nice, but they are a little slow, but if you can handle the slow pace you will enjoy! The buffet restaurant was fine for breakfast (they do nice omlettes, just make sure the egg is cooked) and the lunch was good, however I didn't enjoy the food in the evenings. There is also a Mexican grill on the beach which is lovely for lunch, the buritos were my favourite. We dined out at the chinese over the road a couple of times (have to pay for that), we found them to be friendly and the food was quite good. My boyfriend is a vegetarian, which did leave him slightly limited, but he never went hungry! There is a golf buggy service that will take you to the beach and back if you don't fancy the walk, its quite a giggle, and a little hairy in places watching them get in between the trees! The beach is fairly clean apart from the seaweed, but its much nicer than the beach at the Gran Ventana, which has a lovely stream of water running through the sand (not sure what the water was). The beer is very weak, but the cocktails will get you hammered!! There is quite a large range of cocktails, a lot of them containing rum, which is always good! All in all I can honestly say I couldn't fault this hotel, my boyfriend and I had a fantastic holiday together and could have quite happily stayed for an extra week, we didn't want to go home! I don't think we will go back, because it won't be as special second time round but we have wonderful memories of it! If anyone would like any further information on the hotel, surroundings or the trips we did, please email me.
Loved the Victoria!!!

We arrived at the Victoria Resort April 10, 2003 and left on April 17, 2003. The staff were wonderful, efficient and courteous. The food was beyond comparison, at all restaurants. We dined one night at the Grand Ventana, it was lovely but nothing compared to the Victoria.
We travelled with 2 other couples, 6 of us in total. We were all very pleased with the resort and the service, and would go back there again.
The only disappointment was the lack of entertainment. We had been at the Victoria in 2002 and they had incredible entertainment. We were disappointed that the same was not available this trip.
We will be back at the Victoria, as will our friends and families.
Relaxing and personal touches.

We arrived as part of a group (16 adults and children). We found the hotel extremely welcoming. The rooms were of a high standard and were kept extremely clean throughout our stay by excellent chambermaids. The food varied but mostly was acceptable. The a'lcarte restaurant and pizzeria make a nice change. The hotel offers a personal environment, small touches such as a free mini bar in your room which was refilled daily with alcoholic and soft drinks, really good idea. I would recommend to anyone that if you want a reasonable trip to the caribbean, the Victoria Hotel is well worth a visit. It is definately a place that you feel you are getting more than what you paid for.
Pleasant Surroundings

We took our first trip to the DR in January 2003. We were a little worried about going to an inexpensive all inclusive resort but we were pleasantly suprised to find Victoria Resort to be a great value for your dollar. The food was good, the resort was very clean & what made our trip memorable was the friendly, pleasant staff & how welcome they made you feel. They treated the kids (we have 10yo boy & 9yo girl) as nice as the adults & would always find things to entertain them with if they saw the need. There is good water available for drinking & plenty of hot water for showering. The weather was perfect every day. I would go back again without a doubt.
Great for golf

Had a short break over New Year 02/03. Accommodation was clean. Food was good. Loads of choices for vegetarians.
Wonderful waking up to the sound of golf balls being hit on the tenth fairway. The golf course was great for us. Locals sell balls very cheaply that they have collected out of the water hazards.
Entertainment leaves a lot to be desired.
Staff extremely friendly.
Would return to the Victoria Resort again.
A wonderful experience

In March my boyfriend and I set off to the Dominican Republic, very much apprehensive about the place...
When we arrived we knew we had made the right choice and before long were at our hotel. The Victoria Resort was great in every way.
The hotel itself is small and friendly, the staff are fantastic and the scenery stunning. The area is beautiful, the weather was good too so we had a great time.
The hotel and setting provided the perfect retreat from an otherwise grey and cold england...I didn't want to get back on that plane!
Loved it, 11/10! If you go you will love it. I cannot fault anything. The best holiday I've had and I'm sure will ever have.

After spending 6 nights at the Victoria Hotel we were moved to the Flamenco hotel. The reason for the move was the food, entertainment and service were so poor it was unbelievable. The day on which we moved 13 other guests were moved to other hotels with the same complaints. The flamenco hotel were we spent the last 8 days of our holiday was the complete opposite to the Victoria. My advice is stay well clear of the Victoria Hotel
